Lavender and Sage.  After a rain.  Tied with a ribbon.  Cotton from the Cottonwood trees fall through the air like snow.  Children in too-big cowboy hats tangled up with dogs, dogs with big God-hearts.  Walking on a dusty river, all of us Jesus.  Old rodeo boys gassing about back when it wasn't just for show.  A town full of writers working in the shadow of a mountain it takes guts to climb.  Horses tied to a post at a restaurant that serves scrambled tofu. My new used cowboy boots --- who were you cowgirl, and why did you give them up? Obamasenios, I love you.  I love your sky.

Gorgeous, Melanie.
This time of year especially, my nose remembers Northern New Mexico, the roasting chiles and the pinyon logs.
